While spending a month in Lillehammer, Norway shooting commercials for IBM, Ulf Sorum was quite a memorable character to work with.

Seems the American bobsled team consulted with a NASCAR champion to design their sled for the Winter Games. Naturally, they used IBM technology in the design. To me and art director Jeff Cooper, it made a great story for a spot – a spot that ran during the Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway.
To differentiate this Southern California restaurant chain in a crowded market, I thought a fun Hispanic comedian might fit this fun Hispanic food. Paul Rodriguez became our spokesman on TV and radio. El Pollo Loco enjoyed a unique, memorable identity for years.
